09/11/05 - Accountancy Age Awards
Declare Access Dimensions the Outstanding Package for SMEs -
Access Accounting Ltd has been declared the winner
of the prestigious "Mid-range Software of the Year" award for its
flagship Dimensions software.
Judges
remarked that the category was among the hardest fought, but commented
that Access Dimensions' "flexibility and high level of customer
satisfaction make this the outstanding package for medium sized UK
businesses".
The
Accountancy Age Awards, now in their eleventh year, are recognised as
the voice of the industry and reward the contribution of individuals,
teams and organisations, their performance and results. The awards, this
year, received more entries than ever before.
Access
Accounting has consistently been recognised as one of the best.
Dimensions has been named as one of the top four mid-range software
packages every year for the last six years and has received numerous
commendations from the judges.
Managing
Director, Alistair O'Reilly comments, "It is really pleasing to have the
dedication and diligence of our team recognised in this way. We founded
our company to make emerging mainstream technology easily affordable for
medium sized companies and the team strives to make UK companies more
competitive by helping them gain better access to their business data.
My thanks to all our customers who gave the judges the confidence to
vote for Dimensions".

22/08/05 - Access Accounting confirm
BACSTEL-IP compliance -
Access Accounting has confirmed that its software is
compatible with the new BACS transmission standard, BACSTEL-IP.
BACSTEL-IP
leverages Internet technology to deliver improved security, reliability
and speed of financial payments. By the end of 2005, all 40,000
companies using BACS for electronic payments must migrate to the next
generation delivery channel, BACSTEL-IP.
The payment
transmissions are protected using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and
Smart card technology, yet use the standard Internet Protocol (IP). From
2006, payments being transmitted using the existing BACSTEL service will
not be accepted by the BACS network.
Pip Trowles,
Product Manager, said, "We work closely with our partners to provide
BACS transmission capability and currently output BACS remittance
transactions in nine different formats. This means that Access software
is compatible with all the major banking services plus the industry
leaders in direct BACS transmissions."
She continued,
"Our compliance with the new BACSTEL-IP standard is just one more way in
which we are supporting our customers."

Access Accounting Ltd buys manufacturing software company
- Access Accounting Ltd has acquired PumaSoft Ltd, developers of the
MadiSun MRPII, Supply Chain and Distribution solution.
Access prides
itself on developing SQL Server-based business and accounting solutions
for use in almost every industry. This move greatly strengthens its
offering to the manufacturing and distribution sectors.
PumaSoft has
been an accredited Access Partner since 2001 and developed MadiSun to
work in harmony with the Dimensions financials suite, which lies at the
heart of the Access Accounts range. Many of PumaSoft's existing clients
already use Dimensions as their back-office solution.
For Access,
acquiring PumaSoft is the natural way to build on the synergy between
the two companies. MadiSun has always provided industry-specific
functionality, including ERP, MRPII, WIP tracking and complex stock
control. Now it will also provide award-winning Dimensions financials
(core ledgers, cash book, credit control and payroll) as part of one
unified package.
MD of PumaSoft,
Craig Such, commented, "We have always been dedicated to the specialised
software needs of manufacturing and distribution companies. We chose
Access as our preferred financials package for two reasons: because of
the ease with which the two solutions could be integrated, and strength
of the support Access gives to its partners. This union confirms that we
made the correct choice."
Alistair
O'Reilly, Managing Director of Access Accounting, said, "The PumaSoft
acquisition will enable us to build on our considerable success in this
sector. Dimensions already provides excellent costing, stock and light
assembly facilities, but working with PumaSoft will enable us to provide
a complete Access MRPII solution."
PumaSoft will
continue to operate out of its Huddersfield offices, under the new name
'Access Supply Chain Ltd'. The two major components of the MadiSun
solution will be available separately, and re-branded as 'Access
Manufacturing' and 'Access Distribution'. Both components will continue
to be developed to ensure they remain at the forefront of this highly
competitive sector.

25/08/04 - Access unveils significant
enhancements to Dimensions business solution -
Access Accounting has unveiled an updated
version of its flagship SQL Server business solution.
Dimensions 2.41 was made available to new
and existing users in August 2004. It contains a total of ten major
enhancements to existing functionality, including:
· Stock allocation: new features for
prioritising and 'ring-fencing' stock for specific orders. (This also
facilitates more cost-effective delivery planning.)
· Stock update to nominal: true real-time
accounting for stock valuation and cost of sales, providing greater
financial control.
· Consolidated sales orders: for handling
the delivery and invoicing needs of 'Trading Groups' and similarly
complex organisations.
Transaction drill-down has also been
strengthened throughout the system, with powerful new enquiry screens
and a '360-degree' enquiry window. Instead of displaying transactions in
isolation, this unique window reveals how each item fits into the entire
flow of a company's accounting activity.
Managing Director of Access Accounting,
Alistair O'Reilly, comments: "We have always been driven by the real
commercial needs of our clients. This latest release will widen the
appeal of Dimensions, which already leads the SME market for SQL
solutions."
Existing Access Dimensions users can see
more information on the new release in the
user section.

ensure consistency between departments. Forms can be viewed by
authorised members of staff at any time and turned into hard copy with a

26/01/04 - New SQL Datastore module for

user-selectable menu option. Standard Access Crystal Reports which
report on this SQL payroll data are included within Payroll, which can
be customised or added to as required. Please contact us for more

09/04/03 - 100% capital
allowances on business software -
this year's Budget sees an extension of the government's scheme which
provides 100% first year capital allowances on business IT purchases,
including computer software. This scheme has been in place since 2000 and
increases the original 40% allowance to a full 100% in year one, to
encourage businesses to invest in better business systems. Originally
scheduled to end in April this year, the scheme has now been extended.
There has never been a better time to update your Accounts or Payroll
software, and until April 2004 the cost of the software can be fully offset
against tax.
